Friday Night Football Metro Preview
Primary Content
The action last week in the Metro area was hot and this week two top-ten match-ups ups the ante. No. 2 McEachern will welcome in No. 6 Hillgrove (GPB-TV, 8 PM) for a “Battle of Powder Springs” that will also feature a boatload of college prospects. ... North Gwinnett head coach Bob Sphire told GPB’s Mark Harmon that Norcross is “just outstanding with a stingy defense and a lot of weapons on offense.” That game for Region 7-AAAAA dominance can be seen on gpb.org/sports. ... Dacula has yet to win a game outside of region play, but in Region 8-AAAAA play, Dacula is 3-0 and will square off with nationally-ranked Grayson, also 3-0 in the region. ... Alpharetta and its prolific-passer Joshua Dobbs will be in action, traveling to Milton. Dobbs has passed for over 1700 yards on the season thus far. ... ML King pulled out a huge win one week ago but the Lions will need to avoid a letdown at region-foe Luella. ... Parkview travels to Central Gwinnett as the Panthers are quietly seeking a region title. Parkview is another team that started 0-2 only to win three straight once region play began. ... Peachtree Ridge travels to Collins Hill and the Eagles will likely be putting up a strong fight as another region loss could let Mill Creek back in the hunt for the final playoff spot. ... Despite a 4-0 start, Lassiter was bounced last week 34-10 at Walton. The Trojans will need to shake that loss off and try to get back to .500 in region play with a home game against Cherokee. ... Marietta is 1-4 but the victory came in region play and a victory against Woodstock would push the Blue Devils into a tie with Walton for first place in Region 5-AAAAA.
