GPB PREVIEW: Lassiter Looks To Spring Upset

McEachern will take on a dangerous Lassiter team tonight in a rare No. 2 vs. No. 4 matchup. The Trojans enter the game 8-3 but head coach Jep Irwin noted that Lassiter played well in the first half against Walton and lost its other two games in the final minute. He said of his defense that the 2011 edition is “faster and more confident than last year.”

Look for the offense to thrive with Eddie Printz spreading the ball to Juwan Dickey, Charlie Hegedus, Isiah Willis and Willie Police. Willis is the leading rusher, but Police can run the ball on the corners as well according to Irwin.

McEachern is loaded with playmakers on both sides of the ball. Darius English, a defensive end and Score 44 member, puts pressure on the quarterback defensively while Trent Thompson engineers the offense. He has a pair of weapons on the outside in Amba Etta-Tawo and Tray Fletcher, and he has a rock in front of him in Kofi Amichia.

Colquitt County will make the long trip to Suwanee, Georgia, to face Bob Sphire’s North Gwinnett Bulldogs. The Packers have dropped a pair of road games this year, but last year in the playoffs Colquitt County made the most of a trip to Gwinnett County, knocking off Grayson to advance to the Georgia Dome. Cole Seagraves will look for Ty Smith and Bobby Hill, and expect Willie Woodyard to try and gash the Bulldogs defense on the ground.

North Gwinnett’s Scotty Hosch, a Score 44 quarterback for the entire season, played well last week, and the offense seems to be clicking with Donnie Miles and Joe Jones in the backfield. Chad Scott and Chris Bolden give Hosch some options on the outside. If North Gwinnett’s outstanding defense can rattle Seagraves, the Bulldogs have the offense to outscore Rush Propst’s team.
