The Five Things I Know: 2012 Week Three
Primary Content
Okay... if there was one word that is associated with Week Three of the Regular Season, it's the word "upset..."
And that will take care of a lot of the Things I Know This Week...
It's a point I continue to make about the "First Season," or the "Pre-Season," or the non-region schedule... whatever you call it... it depends on the coach...
And, there are some towns, I'm sure... that are gripping over the "upsets" (perceived or otherwise) and there other towns that are just saying that they wanted a good test with a good team and that it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things...
So, let's look at them...
First Thing I Know... South Georgia is in the blender...
And I mean that statement in the most-interesting, "pre-season" way...
All I have to mention are the names "Wilcox County" and "Valdosta" and some folks are gonna get really excited...
Robert Hydrick is in The Locker Room...

You also saw Lovejoy almost get the win in Moultrie... that'll serve both teams well as we move forward...
Second Thing I Know... If it's not a pre-season game, it's a rivalry game...
I have talked to Lincoln County Head Coach Larry Campbell in the past about the Red Devils rivalry with Washington-Wilkes... the two fan bases call it the "378 War." Coach Campbell would like to think that wars are reserved for hostilities overseas, but the series between the two is about two schools twenty miles apart and 75 times complete.
This go-round was a bit of a surprise...
It's toward the end of the segment with Matt Zahn and everyone at WJBF-TV...
Third Thing I Know... There Were A Lot Of Firsts...
Last week, my alma mater Lakeside-DeKalb broke a 17-game losing streak with a 28-14 win over Dunwoody. Huzzahs to the Vikings and first-year head coach Mike Rozier... Also, North Murray was 3-21 in its first three seasons of varsity football, but the Mountaineers are 2-0 this season after scoring 57 against Dade County. Dooly County surprised Class AAAA Americus-Sumter to improve to 2-0 for the first time since 2007. And Hancock Central is 2-0 for the first time since 2007, beating East Laurens.
But I think the biggest upset, short of Brooks over Valdosta was our game on gpb.org as Gainesville beat Buford 19-15. It was a showcase of Red Elephants QB Deshaun Watson and ended up being the first loss at Tom Riden Stadium since 2006 and the first regular season loss at Tom Riden since 2000.
Evidence below...
Fourth Thing I Know... Central Georgia has us all looking at Peach County when we're not looking at things in Houston County... Chad Campbell hasn't lost to Baldwin since 2008...
And the Trojans didn't last week...

Fifth Thing I Know... Blatant Plug Time
It's another round of Football Fridays... this time at Tom Robinson Stadium as Norcross and their talents, led by head coach Kevin Maloof take on North Gwinnett and Bob Sphire.
The All-Access Pass with Mark, Jenn, Gil, Trey, Rayven, Grace, David, "Moi" and everyone that puts it together kicks off at 7:30 on the #GreatGPB with kick-off at 8:06 or so...
On the web, it's another great non-region test as Carrollton takes on Calhoun- kick-off is 7:30 on gpb.org...
So, like us on the Facebook, follow us on the Twitter, download the essential app on everything iWorthy, and chat with Grace as we go...
The weather is getting a little cooler, which means your favorite Friday night activity is just heating up...
Play it safe, everyone... I'll talk to you soon...
