Parkview Looking For Playoff Payback
Primary Content
In a game worthy of at least the semifinals, Parkview, ranked No. 10 nationally by one service, hosts 2010 and 2011 champion Norcross tonight, and Parkview is looking for payback. Last year, Norcross defeated Parkview 63-48 and the Blue Devils return Diamond DeShields, one of the top players in the nation. Parkview, meanwhile, leans on its depth as four players reached double figures in scoring in Parkview’s first-round victory. Parkview has not lost a game since falling to Norcross last year … Chestatee travels to face River Ridge tonight in a rematch of a game played in the Allatoona Christmas Tournament. River Ridge came out victorious 47-34, but Chestatee enters the second round of the AAAA playoffs on fire from the outside. … Bowdon is in the Sweet 16 of the AA playoffs for the first time since 2006-07, but the Red Devils face a tall task against Calhoun. Bowdon has six seniors, including Jacole Stephens, who helped spring the upset over Greene County Wednesday. Stephens finished with 23 points in the 53-52 victory. Look for the seniors to try and offer leadership for first-year coach Remonica Stephens against the one-loss Calhoun Yellow Jackets. … Kayla Potts saved Forest Park against Northside-Columbus in the first round of the AAAAA playoffs earlier this week, but Potts will likely need more help if the Panthers wish to beat Northside-Warner Robins. Potts turned in a game-high 16 points, but the team missed enough free throws that Potts was forced to make a last-second basket to win. Look for Forest Park to get back to basics on defense. … Finally, Region 5-AAAAA champion Allatoona will need all hands on deck tonight as defending Class AAAA champion Miller Grove pays a visit for a second-round matchup. Miller Grove lost just one player from that championship squad but was upset in the region tournament. Allatoona has won two straight region titles.
