Primary Content
GPB Sports is busy bringing you the best high school football coverage in the known galaxy, and these next two weeks will be very special.
This Friday, October 9th, the GPB Sports team rolls in McEachern High School where the 4-1 Indians will take on the 3-3 Warriors of North Cobb. This is a terrific rivalry that goes back to November 10, 1961 when North Cobb Beat McEachern 39-20. These two teams have collided 47 times with North Cobb leading the series 24-21-2. Both these schools have terrific football programs, with heralded head coaches and tons of talent on both sidelines. So this will be a great high school football game. What makes it extra special this year is the fact that the Atlanta Falcons and Northside Hospital are sponsoring the official high school breast cancer awareness “pink out” game. A sky diver will land on the field trailing pink smoke and delivering the game football. The Falcons have donated pink gloves, pink wrist bands and pink socks to the players of both teams. Freddie Falcon and the Falcon cheerleaders will be on hand to help pep up the festivities. So not only will this be a great high school football game for GPB Sports to broadcast around the great state of Georgia but GPB Sports will also help promote breast cancer awareness on a state wide basis getting that very important message out to Georgians everywhere.
The following week, GPB Sports is hitting the road, heading down I-75 to Moultrie,GA., to broadcast the Valdosta at Colquitt County football game live from Mack Tharpe Stadium. This again, is a classic matchup, a rivalry that goes back over 100 years and matches up the all time winningest program in the state with the team that is the reigning class 6A state champion. GPB sports operations chief Kevin Gerke, sales guru Kilena Underwood and I visited Colquitt County this week to put the finishing touches on our game plan…………….where to place our 9 cameras, our studio set, our satellite truck and all our other gear. Athletic Director Kevin Giddens, assistant AD Greg Tillery and their staff have been sensationally helpful in allowing us to broadcast this game. Head coach Rush Propst and his players are unbeaten right now, 6-0, ranked number one in the polls and the defending class 6A champs. Valdosta has won 895 games, 23 state championships and 6 mythical national titles. GPB Sports is proud and honored to be allowed to bring this terrific game to homes all across the great state of Georgia on October 16th Our All Access Pass pregame show will kick off the festivities at 7:00 pm.
So enjoy the entire season, but these next two weeks, these next two games will be what Georgia high school football is all about. Enjoy!!!
