Football season is coming, folks... Hang in there, we’re getting closer.

Until then, let’s talk a little bit about what you can plan on seeing next season. For example: Mill Creek’s standout safety, Jamar Hall.

What you see is what you get with Hall.

He’s physical, fast, and an overall incredible athlete. But the most impressive thing that stands out to me as I study his play tape is his instinct. It’s almost like a sixth sense, he anticipates the pass extremely well and doesn’t waste any time getting to the ball- whether he comes up with a deflection, a tackle, or an interception. You can’t teach instinct like that. It’s obvious that he leans on that part of his game and it’s proven to be a huge advantage for him on the field.

It’s like he always knows how to be at the right place at the right time. He makes it look easy, but I can assure you, it’s not. I was on the practice field with the team a few weeks ago and this time of year is basically like training camp. Fundamentals are the focus and as Hall sprints from one drill to the next, there’s a sense of excellence that he exudes from the field. Entering his senior season, you better believe there’s an incredible hunger to get back on the field and take their team all the way.

The Mill Creek Hawks lost in the semi-finals to the Colquitt County Packers. As good as Mill Creek’s defense was all season, they didn’t have the staying power against the most prolific offense in the state. That being said, Hall seems to think that this year, his defensive backs make up a pretty special group, and they’re looking to build on the strides they made last year.

A senior, Hall isn’t overlooking his last season playing high school football. But that doesn’t mean colleges aren’t looking at him to play at the next level. According to 247 Sports, he has 8 offers- including Navy, Elon, and Cornell. He’s also got the grades to back up the talent, ending the year with a 3.7 GPA.

He’s also eyeing some of the bigger football schools in the SEC, but hasn’t had any official offers from those programs, yet. I had a chance to go one-on- one with him and learn more about where he’ll play college football and what he’s looking forward to this season.

The Mill Creek Hawks are known for having a good, sound, defensive team, but will that carry over this season? Keep an eye on #6 out there…
