Inside information: Hart County won the Region 8 championship. The Bulldogs have won nine state championships, including six in a row from 1989-94. Starks was voted Region 8 Player of the Year. Alexander and Grove were also named to the all-region team.

Inside information: Johnson was the runner-up in Region 3, losing to Savannah rival Beach in the title game. The Atom Smashers won their first state championship a year ago. Cutter was voted Region 3 Player of the Year. Thompson and Baker were voted first-team all-region and three other girls (Zoriah Mobley, K’yla Hankerson and Checobia Hugle) were honorable mention. Cutter averages 15.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists. Baker (15.1 points) and Thompson (13.2) are also in double figures.
