GPB’s Football Fridays in Georgia heads to the southside this week when No. 7 Lovejoy travels to No. 8 Westlake for a crucial Class 6A game that will help decide the Region 4 championship.

Lovejoy (7-1, 2-1) is coming off a 20-18 loss to Hughes, but holds impressive wins over then-Class 7A No. 3 North Gwinnett, Griffin and Tucker. The Wildcats are coached by Edgar Carson.

Westlake (6-1, 3-0) brings a high-scoring offense led by sophomore quarterback R.J. Johnson (1,502 yards passing). The Lions routed North Atlanta 56-16 on Friday. Its only loss this season came to Class 7A Hillgrove. The Lions are coached by Bobby May.

The two teams have only met twice, with Westlake winning both times. They have not played since 2009.
