GPB Sports is looking for Georgia high school football players who are having a great season and career but who may need a little help getting noticed by recruiters. Here are our nominees this week.

 

Davin Driskell, Greenbrier, WR/OLB, SR

Driskell is a 6'6" 215 LBS Wide Receiver and Outside Linebacker at Greenbrier High School. He has offers from UVA and Air Force. After 3 games into his senior season, Driskell has career totals of 35 receptions with over 500 yards and 5 TD's.  On the defensive side he has career totals of 68 solo tackles and 42 assists, averaging 5.5 tackles a game.  Driskell will be a three-year starter on the basketball team for Greenbrier this season and has been the leading shot blocker for two seasons.  He plans to continue his athletic career on the field at the collegiate level in the college sports program that wants him the most!

Austin Redmon, Jefferson, RB, SR

Redmon is a 5'10" 190 LBS Linebacker at Jefferson High School. He is an extremely physical player and shows an almost uncontrolled ferocity on the field. Jefferson Defensive Coordinator Tom Parker says, “Austin's key to success the past several years can be credited to his ability to harness his emotions and channel his energy to feed his football skills, especially his physicality.  This passion paired with his physicality and ability to understand the game has made Austin a well-respected linebacker in our region and classification.”

Jackson Strickland, Tift, ATH, SR

Strickland a 5’10” 180 LBS Athlete at Tift County High School. During his sophomore year he was injured and had to sit out most of the year. But during his junior year, Strickland returned to the field ready to play. As a result, he was awarded First Team All-Region in 7A, and led the team in return yardage. In Strickland’s senior year, he has forced 11 turnovers as a defense player in several positions, including Strong Safety, Free Safety, Cornerback, Wide Receiver, Running Back, and Kicker/Punt Returner.

Brandon Horne, West Laurens, LG, JR

Horne is a 6’0” 300 LBS Left Guard at West Laurens High School. He says his position was cemented as Center during his later elementary and middle school years when he heard his coaches say, “He can rival any high school center at this point.” During Horne’s freshman year, he played second string center, at the beginning of his sophomore year he was first string center and before transitioning to his current offensive position. He says he loves the game, respects his teammates, and trusts his coaches. Horne is also passionate about weightlifting. His current squat max is 515 LBS, and his current bench press max is 315 LBS. While these two activities take a good chunk of Horne’s my time, he is devoted to his academics. He maintains a 4.0 GPA, is a dual enrollment student, takes gifted/ honors classes and takes college classes at Georgia Military College.

Cam Sigur, Eagle’s Landing Christian, ATH, SR

Sigur is a 5’11” 180 LBS Athlete at Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy High School. He can play both sides of the ball and is a very versatile athlete. Sigur runs a 4.7 40-yard dash. He is an extremely hard worker and will do whatever is asked of him!

Kyle Mixon, Northside, T, JR

Mixon is a 6’5” 290 LBS Offensive Tackle at Northside High School. During his first four games, he has allowed no sacks. While facing off against, Warner Robins 5-star recruit Victor Burley and Peach County 3-star recruit Quentel Jones, he allowed no sacks or tackles. Mixon has been recognized as a 2021 GA Elite Classic Sophomore All-Star Team and 2020 GA Coaches Association Sophomore All-Star Team. In addition to football, he is also a member of the Northside swim team, where he specializes in the Fly and Freestyle events. Off the field, he maintains a 3.73 GPA and is a Life Scout in BSA Troop 550 in Warner Robins. He hopes to earn his Eagles rank by February 2022. Mixon currently has no offers.

Jake Parker, Cartersville, QB, SR

Parker is a 6’3” 190 LBS Quarterback at Cartersville High School. He is extremely smart in the passing game, due to his understanding of coverages and protections, which allows him to make great decisions. He can make every throw and is extremely accurate. Parker is a program kid that had waited his turn and practiced every day the last 5 years with Power 5 QBs Trevor Lawrence, Tee Webb, and Carlos Del Rio Wilson. Off the field, he has maintained a 3.7 GPA, and has a 27 ACT and 1100 SAT.

Aidan Banfield, Mill Creek, OG, SO

Banfield is a 6’4” 280 LBS Offensive Guard at Mill Creek High School. He was graded 85% in the Hawks 38-10 win over West Forsyth with three pancakes and allowed zero QB sacks or pressures. Banfield dominated on the offensive line during the Hawks big win. Coach Josh Lovelady feels Aidan will be a Power 5 Conference prospect as he grows older. Off the field, Banfield has a 4.0 GPA. Fun fact, he designed and manufactured the Hawks turnover chain in his engineering class.

Cam Smith, Callaway, S, SR

Smith is a 6’2” 190 LBS Safety at Callaway High School. During last year’s championship game, he was a starter and had two key interceptions that helped Callaway win the game. Smith also had two picks in Callaway’s playoff game against Lovett, which helped them make it to the last game of the season. Now in 2021, he has two more interceptions, including one that set up the game winning kick on the road at #4 6A Opelika, Alabama. Smith works hard on the field and in the classroom. He has a 3.41 GPA.
