Make That Kid An Offer

GPB Sports is looking for Georgia high school football players who are having a great season and career but who may need a little help getting noticed by recruiters. If you, or someone you know, doesn’t have an offer or may just be looking for a bigger offer, tell us your story. Here are our nominees this week.

 

Tevin Gartrell, Lincoln County, RB/ OLB, SR

Gartrell is a 5’7” 165 LBS Running Back and Outside Linebacker at Lincoln County High School. He is known as an extremely respectful and hardworking young man who has overcome much adversity in his life. Gartrell would like to play football in college and has aspirations to join the military. Off the field, he is a participant in FCA, LCHS Leadership Group, and works multiple jobs.

Michael McDade, North Murray, WR/TE, SR

McDade is a 6’4” 210 LBS Wide Receiver and Tight End at North Murray High School. He plays football, basketball, and runs track. At the end of his junior year, McDade was ranked the number 1 WR in northwest Georgia at the end of my junior year and midway through this season until an injury. His measurables include a 4.6 40-yard dash, a 270 bench and 400 squat. Off the field, he maintains a 3.7 GPA, is taking three honors classes and college algebra. Outside of school and sports, he likes hanging with my friends and family.

Champ Baker, Parkview, ATH, SR

Baker is a 5’11” 175 LBS Athlete at Parkview High School. He plays Cornerback, Free Safety, and Wide Receiver. His current stats through 6 games this season are 33 tackles, 22 Solo 11 Assist Tackles, seven pass breakups (zero TDs allowed in man coverage so far this season), and one punt block/tackle. Baker is an academic scholar with a 3.6 GPA and 1060 SAT. He currently had offers from Presbyterian College, Morehead State University, and Wingate University.

Case Barrett, Roswell, ILB, SR

Barrett is a 6’2” 215 LBS Inside Linebacker at Roswell High School. His current stats through nine games are 98 tackles and nine tackles for loss. Last year he was recognized as a part of the 7A Region 5 Second Team and was awarded the John Cohen Sportsmanship Award. Off the field, he maintains a 3.73 GPA.

Myles Jones, Johns Creek, ATH, SR

Jones is a 6’1” 206 LBS Athlete at Johns Creek High School. His measurable are a 4.5 40-yard dash, a 350 bench a 430 squat. Off the field, Jones has a 3.8 GPA, is a part of the National Beta Club and plays cello with the orchestra. He is also received a Harvard Future Physicians of America invite and has won multiple awards for special teams, strength & conditioning and was named the defensive player of the week. Outside of football, Jones also runs track where he is the school’s top 12 for the 100m. His father is Cleon Jones Jr., an ESPN All-American and his grandfather is Cleon Jones, a former professional MLB player who was a part of the New York Mets’ 1969 World Series team.

Caleb Thompson, Darlington, RB/ FS, SR

Thompson is a 6’2” 185 LBS Running back and Free Safety at Darlington High School. He has played 8-man football since his freshman year of high school. Since transferring to Darlington this past year, he says he has proved his talent and has shown out on the field. This year Darlington is 9-1 and now are region champs going into the Playoffs.

Jace Warren, Calhoun, OL, SR

Warren is 6’1” 280 LBS Offensive Lineman at Calhoun High School. He has been named top Offensive Lineman for five of their nine 2021 season games and four games during the 2020 season. Off the field he has maintained a 3.6 GPA while taking honors, advanced, and AP courses throughout high school. Warren is also a member of FCA and FFA. He says he is a dedicated and hardworking student-athlete who looks forward to playing football at the next level.

Cooper Corey, Harris County, QB, SR

Corey is a 6’2” 200 LBS Quarterback at Harris County High School. He is a four-year varsity letterman for the football team and currently is 12th in all classifications in the state of Georgia in total yards. Corey currently holds the school passing record with 4,411 total yards and 69 total touchdowns in his career. He’s been named 2-AAAAA All-Region First team Offense and 2x Columbus Ledger Enquirer All Bi-City First Team Offense. Off the field, he is a 4.0 student and is currently taking three college classes and one AP class.
