Sophomore Georgia Bosart had 17 points, 20 rebounds and six assists to lead Lake Oconee Academy to a 45-29 win over Hancock Central in the Class A Public girls championship on Wednesday and earn the school’s first state title.

Lake Oconee Academy girls celebrate their first state championship.

Bosart was 5-for-12 from the field and also added two steals and one block. Lake Oconee (26-1) also got nine points each from Jane Monachello and Hannah Heinen. Jada Williams had 13 rebounds and two steals.

Lake Oconee Academy, coached by Ed Wilson, won its final 22 games.

Hancock Central (18-4) was led by Jamerica Lawrence with eight points and nine rebounds and Sonovia  Reynolds with eight points and seven rebounds. The Bulldogs shot only 16.7 percent from the floor (8-for-48) and had their 16-game winning streak broken.

The Titans scored 18 points in the second quarter to break open a close game and take a 22-14 halftime lead. Oconee was never threatened in the second half.
