Aaniyah Allen had 17 points and six rebounds to lead Elbert County to a 52-44 win over Rabun County and win the Class 2A girls championship on Thursday at the Macon Coliseum.

It was the first state title for Elbert County.

The Region 8 rivals had split during the regular season and Rabun had prevailed in the region tournament.

The Blue Devils (28-4) also got 14 points from Niya Moon and 12 points from Terrace Hester. Jamia Allen and Brenasia Faust led the way with nine rebounds apiece.

Rabun County (24-6) got 18 points from Carley Haban and 10 points and 11 rebounds from Gracie Deetz.

The Wildcats could not overcome a poor shooting night. They shot 23.9 percent from the floor, were 2-for-15 on 3s, and converted only 20 of 33 free throws.
