Make That Kid An Offer

GPB Sports is looking for Georgia high school football players who are having a great season and career but who may need a little help getting noticed by recruiters. If you, or someone you know, doesn’t have an offer or may just be looking for a bigger offer, tell us your story. Here are our nominees for the week of August 29, 2022:

 

Jai’Den Thomas, Westlake, RB, SR

Thomas is a  5’9, 175 LBS senior running back at Westlake High School. He rushed 20 time for 87 yards with 3 touchdowns in Westlake’s 47-7 win over Crisp County on GPB. In two games this season, Thomas has rushed for over 250 yards and in his career has rushed for over 1400 yards with 14 TD's in 14 varsity games.

DJ Bell, Pierce County, RB/DB, SR

Bell is a 6’0 170 LBS senior running back and defensive back at Pierce County High School. He rushed 17 times for 245 yards and five touchdowns and threw for 42 yards and two touchdowns in the Bears’ 56-17 win over Jeff Davis. He has one offer from Georgia Tech. Bell has rushed for over 3700 yards in his career with 47 TD's on the ground. He also has 11 career TD passes and 5 career TD receptions.

Cooper Scott, Lumpkin County, QB, SR

Scott is a 6’0 200 LBS senior, three-year starting quarterback at Lumpkin County High School. Scott’s coach says that in his 21 years of coaching, he is “one of my all-time favorites because he does everything right - in the classroom, in the community, around our school building and on the field. He is an all-time high caliber kid!” Scott’s football stats include: 80 of 131 passing (61%) 1016 yds and eight TD’s. Rushing he has 112 carries for 357 yds and four TD’s. In his first two games, Scott has thrown for 177 yards, two TD’s and zero interceptions. He has rushed for 77 yards and scored one TD. Scott currently has no offers or interest, nor has he been on any visits.

Off the field, Scott has made a tremendous impact in his community. He was https://youtu.be/U6f-5buFGpk recognized by his principal for his leadership skills as the captain of the football and baseball team, but also for his caring attitude towards other students and kindness to everyone he meets. Last school year, there was a student suffering a mental health crisis - Scott recognized this while speaking with the individual. The student’s teacher was on another side of the campus, but that didn’t stop Scott from going out of his way to find their teacher and ensure that the student was safe. The teacher told Scott and his mother that, “Cooper Scott saved a life. My life would never be the same if not for Cooper Scott.”

Hayden Futch, Berrien County, P, SR

Futch is a 6’0 165 LBS senior punter at Berrien County High School. He has a plethora of football accomplishments that started during his Sophomore year. These include: All-Region 1-AA, selected to play in the Georgia Elite Classic & Georgia Athletic Coaches Association All-Star game. During his Junior year, Futch was named All-Region 1-AA Special Teams Player of the Year, and he punted 28 times with a 39 yard average. In his first two games as a Senior, he currently ranks 40th in the nation according to Kohl’s Kicking, was named pre-season All-State by AJC, GHSF Daily and Recruit Georgia. So far he has punted three times with a 44 yard average.

Michael McClellan, Johns Creek, QB, JR

McClellan is a 6’4” 213 LBS junior starting quarterback at Johns Creek High School. In his first two games, he has made plays despite having to throw the ball in tight windows and under pressure. McClellan has adjusted to the Gladiators’ tough schedule, including Top 10 ranked 7A team Parkview. Additionally, he recently returned from the Broward County Showcase tournament in Florida, where his team played Western. Off the field, McClellan volunteers as the QB coach with Johns Creek’s 6th grade feeder team after practice each day.

When he’s not playing football, he also participates in Track & Field - in the 10th grade he set a record in discus.  In the classroom, McClellan is taking AP and Honors courses, where he maintains a 3.87 GPA.

Nissi Mukulu, Archer, SS, OLB, FS, SR

Mukulu is a 6’1” 186 LBS senior hybrid position player at Archer High School. In the first two weeks of the season, he had 17 tackles, six and a half tackles for losses, and one sack. Mukulu is a region champion at Archer not only for football, but also Track & Field. He was a state qualifier in the 4x400 meter relay and a sectional finalist this past season. Off the field and track, Mukulu maintains at a 3.2 GPA.

Cam Flowers, Warner Robins, CB/ WR, JR

Flowers is a 6’0” 160 LBS junior cornerback and wide receiver at Warner Robins High School. Last year, as a Sophomore WR, he was 16-247, had three TD’s and four TD’s total last year. Flowers caught the lone 51 yard TD for the Demons two weeks ago vs Lee County.

Off the field he maintains at 3.8 GPA.

Damien Dee, Northside, QB, JR

Dee is a 6’0 165 LBS junior quarterback at Northside - WR High School. His Sophomore stats include: 60 of 112, 639 yards passing, 98 rushes for 269 yards and four TD’s.  In his first two games of the 2022 season, Dee has been 12 of 25, 189 yards and one TD. Rushing, he has had 26 carries for 202 yards and three TD's.

Outside of football, Dee is also on the basketball team and maintains a 3.2 GPA.
