2022 GPB All-State All-Stars Team
Once again, the GPB Sports Staff undertook the difficult and I might add, nearly impossible task, of choosing our All-State All-Stars Team from all the incredible high school football talent in the State. Unlike most All-State Teams, this All-Star team encompasses all seven GHSA Classifications. We acknowledge up front that we probably missed on some great players, but we did our best.
That said, here’s our GPB All-State Award Winners and All-Star Offense, Defense and Special Teams:
Most Outstanding Two-Way Player
Caleb Downs – Mill Creek 6-0, 190, Senior SAF/RB – Recruiting: Signed with Alabama. 5-Star. No. 1 prospect in Georgia, No. 1 ranked Safety in the Country, No. 6 Overall National Prospect.
Stats: Defense 83 total tackles, 1 TFL, 1 QB Sack, 5 INT, 2 Pick-Sixes (Finished career with program record 19 INT, 7 returned for TD). Offense 57-389 yards rushing, 20 TD (Used primarily as Wildcat QB in short yardage and goal line situations). 36-422 yards receiving, 3 TD. Scored 25 Total TD.
Team: Named to GPB Sports All-Finals Team after leading Hawks to first-ever State Championship.
Notes: Comes from football family. Dad Gary starred at NC State, played in NFL and RB Coach at ETSU. Brother Josh All-ACC WR at North Carolina. Uncle Dre Bly NFL Pro Bowl CB. All-American at North Carolina and now the CB Coach for the Tar Heels.

Prentiss “Air’ Noland – Langston Hughes 6-2, 190, Junior QB – Recruiting: 4-Star – Highest Ranking: No. 8 QB in the Country in On3 Recruiting Rankings. 28 offers including Auburn, Texas A&M, Arkansas, and Miami.
Stats: 236-323 Passing for 73.1% completion rate, 4,095 yards, 55 TD and just 4 TD. Has already passed for 8,024 career yards, 104 TD and just 16 INT.

Most Outstanding Defensive Player
Kayden McDonald – North Gwinnett 6-3, 310, Senior DL – Recruiting: Signed with Ohio State. 4-Star. Highest Ranking: No. 9 DL in the Country in Rivals Rankings.
Stats: 68 total tackles, 40 TFL and 13 QB Sacks. Finished his career with 234 total tackles, 131 TFL and 46 QB Sacks. Also scored 12 TD on offense this season.
Team: Led Bulldogs to 10-3 record and State 7A Quarterfinal finish.

Julian “JuJu” Lewis – Carrollton 6-1, 170, Freshman – Recruiting: 23 offers including Georgia, Alabama, and Florida. (NOTE: Freshman are not ranked by the recruiting services)
Stats: 283-432 passing, 65.5%, 4,118 yards, 48 TD, 12 INT as a 9th grader.

Antwann “AJ” Hill – Houston County 6-4, 195, Sophomore – Recruiting: 4-Star. Highest Ranking: No. 5 sophomore QB in the Country in the 247 Sports Composite Rankings. 12 offers including Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee
Stats: 268-380 passing, 70.5%, 3,663 yards, 40 TD and just 3 INT.
Team: Led the Bears to 10-3 record and State 6A Quarterfinal finish.
Aaron Philo – Prince Avenue 6-3, 200, Junior – Recruiting: Offered by UCF, Arkansas State and Toledo.
Stats: 274-397 Passing, 69.0% Completion, 54 TD, 8 INT and 8 rushing TD. Has already thrown for 9,326 yards in his career with 103 TT and 22 INT.
Team: Named GPB Sports All-Finals Co-Most Outstanding Player on Offense leading the Wolverines to 15-0 record and program’s second ever State Championship all in the last three seasons.
Keegan Stover – Rabun County 6-4, 220, Senior – Recruiting: Offered by Mars Hill, Bluefield State and Shorter.
Stats: 219-354 Passing, 61.9%, 3,605 yards, 41 TD just 3 INT. Career threw for 7.493 yards, 86 TD, 10 INT.

Bailey Stockton – Prince Avenue 5-10, 185, Senior – Recruiting: Five offers including Arkansas State, Army, and New Hampshire.
Stats: 75-1,425 yards receiving, 118.8 ypg and 23 Total TD.
Team: Named GPB Sports All-Finals WR leading the Wolverines to 15-0 record and program’s second ever State Championship all in the last three seasons. Heroic effort to return for State Championship game after breaking collarbone requiring surgery in second round of playoffs.

Bryce Hicks – Carrollton 5-11, 175, Junior RB – Recruiting: Offered by Coastal Carolina, Liberty, Eastern Michigan, and Bowling Green.

Tyson Greenwade – Dalton 6-0, 198, Senior – Recruiting: Six-plus offers including Mississippi College, University of Charleston, and Wittenberg.
Stats: Over 2,100 yards rushing and 28 TD.
Team: Led Catamounts to 6-6 record and State Second Round finish.
Aaron Gates – Trinity Christian 6-1, 195, Senior – Recruiting: Signed with Florida. 4-Star. Highest Ranking: No. 14 Safety in the Country in the ESPN Rankings.
Stats: Offense 17-191 yards receiving and 1 TD in 3 games. Got off to a great start to his senior season before it was cut short by torn ACL.
Team: Lions finished season 6-5 reaching the first round of the playoffs in 4A after winning 1A-Private State Championship in 2021.
