Top players: Jania Akins, Kayla Lindsey, Veronaye “Tweedy” Charlton, Mariyah Valrie, Hayda Toro. Akins, who surpassed 1,000 career points, was named Region 7 Player of the Year. Charlton, only 5-foot-4, scored 19 points in the semifinal win over Buford.

Brookwood Broncos
Record/ranking: 30-1, No. 1 seed from Region 4, ranked No. 1
Coach: Courtney Mincy.
Top players: Diana Collins, Danielle Osho, Jade Weathersby, Kenney Daniels, Justyce McCoy. Collins, an Ohio State signee, was named the Region 4 Player of the Year and was honorable mention on the Naismith High School All-America team. She is the school’s all-time leading scorer. Weathersby also reached the 1,000-point mark.

Game notes: Although both teams are in Gwinnett County, they compete in different regions and did not play during the regular season. Brookwood is riding a 23-game winning streak after suffering its only loss to Class 6 finalist and No. 1-ranked River Ridge. Norcross has won 12 straight since losing to McEachern, the team Brookwood beat in the semifinals.
