Aaron Philo threw for 320 yards, breaking the Georgia record for career passing yards, and helping Prince Avenue Christian win its second straight state championship, a 43-32 victory over Swainsboro.
It was the second straight years the two teams have met in the final. Prince Avenue won 52-34 in 2022. It marked Prince Avenue’s third title in the last four seasons.

Philo, who has committed to play at Georgia Tech, completed 31 of 40 passes and three touchdowns. He needed 301 yards to break the record of 13,902 yards held by Cartersville’s Trevor Lawrence. Philo also rushed 13 times for 84 yards and scored two touchdowns.
Philo’s effort was needed to offset the effort of Swainsboro’s DeMello Jones, a University of Georgia commit who rushed 10 times for 21 yards and two touchdowns, caught four passes for 76 yards and one touchdown and scored on an interception return. He finished the season with 4,596 yards and 44 touchdowns.
No. 1-ranked Prince Avenue Christian (14-1) also got 142 rushing yards from Connor Causby, who carried 24 times and scored a touchdown. Hudson Holt caught 12 passes for 123 yards and C.J. Dockery caught eight passes for 100 yards and three touchdowns. The top tacklers were Peyton Talmadge (seven) and Kyler Giddens (six).
No. 10 Swainsboro (12-3) also got 55 yards rushing from Jordan Williams and 50 yards rushing and one touchdown from Qin Brown. Quarterback Kason Edenfield completed 7 of 8 passes for 100 yards and one touchdown but was sacked twice. Lamarqus Webb and Jylleris Williams both had 12 tackles to lead the defense.
Prince Avenue led 21-18 at halftime, as Philo threw a 36-yard touchdown to Dockery and ran for a 3-yard touchdown. The Wolverines also scored on a 1-yard run by Mac Bradley to complete a 69-yard drive.
Swainsboro stayed in the game thanks to Jones, who scored three first-half touchdowns – a 59-yard pass fronm Kason Edenfield, a 96-yard pick-six and a 4-yard run.
