There is a new No. 1 team in Class 2A this week.

Pierce County, which won the Class 2A championship a year ago, is back on top after Prince Avenue Christian was beaten by Mallard Creek, N.C. Pierce moved up one spot to No. 1 and Prince Avenue, a state champion the last two seasons, dropped to No. 5.

The other No. 1-ranked teams held their position: Carrollton in 6A, Milton in 5A, Cartersville in 4A, Calvary Day in 3A, Savannah Christian in Class A Division I and Bowdon in Class A Division II.

Prince Avenue Christian also lost its hold on the top spot in the Class 3A-1A Private rankings. Savannah Christian moved up a notch to No. 1 and Prince Avenue dropped to No. 3

There are numerous newcomers to the rankings this week: Blessed Trinity, No. 10 in Class 4A; Monroe Area, No. 7 in 3; LaGrange, No. 8 in 3A; Fannin County, No. 8 in Division I; Dodge County, No. 9 in Division I; Fitzgerald, No. 10 in Division I; Emanuel County Institute, No. 10 in Division II; and Aquinas, No. 10 in Private.
