Primary Content
Not only in Northwest Whitfield off to a 5-0 start this season, the Bruins last week recorded the 300th victory in the program’s history.
Coach Josh Robinson’s team defeated Gilmer 38-10 in the Region 7-3A opener to earn the historic victory. It is the first team the team has enjoyed a 5-0 start since 2013.
Robinson is the school’s winningest coach. He arrived in 2011 and has compiled a 93-55 record during his 14 seasons. He has taken 10 teams to the postseason and the 2016, 2020 and 2021 teams reached the second round of the playoffs.
Located in Tunnel Hill, Northwest Whitfield began playing football in 1975 and won its lone region championship in 2000 under coach Ron Wheeler, who went 34-28 in six seasons from 1996-2001.
Don Murray spent 13 seasons at the school, from 1981-93, and went 77-57-1.
