Flag football: 16 teams are one step away from state finals

GPB Sports will continue its coverage of the state flag football playoffs by streaming Thursday’s semifinal game between Grayson and McEachern. The game will start at 6 p.m. and will be available at GPB.org.
Grayson (21-5) is trying to become the first school from Gwinnett County to win a flag football championship. The Rams defeated Colquitt County 19-13 in the quarterfinal round.
McEachern (26-0) has been ranked No. 1 all season. The Indians are looking for their first flag championship. Quarterback Chelsea Njoku, last week named the statewide player of the year, has thrown for 4,351 yards and 72 touchdowns and rushed for 413 yards and 12 touchdowns.
All the state’s flag football semifinals will be Thursday. The winners advance to next week’s state championship games. The finals at Mercedes-Benz Stadium will be Dec. 16 for Division 1 and Division 2, Dec. 17 for Division 3 and Dec. 18 for Division 4.
Today’s schedule of semifinal games:
Division 4 – Grayson at McEachern, Denmark at Lambert.
Division 3 – Pace Academy at Lithia Springs, Pope at Milton.
Division 2 – Greenbrier at Jenkins, Evans at North Oconee.
Division 1 – Southeast Bulloch at Dodge County, Long County at Columbus.
