Primary Content
Here is a little something Ive started for the schools that are playing this week.
Southwest DeKalb or otherwise known as SWD High School is located in Decatur Georgia; housing one of the two High Achievers Magnet Programs in DeKalb County. Besides being known for their stellar academic success, SWD is also recognized for their outstanding sports and music departments. Hey! Did you know that the uniforms, and actually SWD band members and staff, were featured in 2002’s hit movie Drumline starring Nick Cannon. For the students who are not as actively involved with sports or the musical programs, SWD offers many organizations that will allow students to volunteer to help service their community such as BOLD (Brothers of Leadership), LOD (Ladies of Distinction), No Place for Hate, Youths In Charge and many more organizations designed to allow students to learn responsibilities while helping each other. Now, on to football… The SWD’s Panthers will be playing against Marist High School this coming Friday, September 17th on SWD’s home turf. The Panthers are 2009 AAA Region 6 Champs! Let’s see if they can reign supreme again this year!!!
Marist School is an independent Catholic School of the Marist Fathers and Brothers. Marist School was founded in 1901 and makes it their purpose to share their educational mission with thousands of students and families within the Atlanta areas. Known as the campus that never sleeps, Marist School’s student life is full of activities, sports, and clubs. Marist’s fine arts program consists of music, drama, art, and basically anything you can think of. Hey! Did you know… that Marist’s varsity girls tennis team raised over $4,500 for Aces for the Cancer Cure during the summer?!?!! In 2008, Marist was awarded the AAAA Dodge Directors Cup for the 9th consecutive year in recognition of their outstanding overall performance, as well as being honored as one of the nation’s top 15 high school athletic programs by Sports Illustrated based on their all-around excellence. Good Job War Eagles.
