Carlton J. Kell High School!!! Home of the Longhorns!!!
Kell High School first opened its doors in August 2002 and has had a substantial amount of new student growth since then. The Mighty Longhorns will be playing against Pope High School on their home turf this Friday. Aside from football, Kell offers numerous sports and award winning organizations that students can join. Earlier this year, the Kell Computer Programming team won 3rd place during the high school division in a computer programming competition hosted at GA Tech. Great job guys, next year let’s go for GOLD!! Hey!! Did you know… Kell High School was named after one of Cobb County School District’s highly respected athletic directors and coaches, Carlton “Corky” Kell. Besides having a school named after him, every year there is a pre-season football show down at the Georgia Dome respectively named the “Corky Kell Classic”, where Gwinnett County schools face-off against Cobb County schools to determine who will lead the season off as the champs!
Alan C. Pope High School!! Home of the Greyhounds!!!
Alan C. Pope High opened its doors in 1987, a standard public school that has received the prestigious Georgia Blue Ribbon of Excellence award on numerous occasions. Pope High has a student enrollment of almost 2000! Hey!! Did You Know… that Pope is also known for their very active student body, 90% of students either participate in athletics or some other extracurricular activity and 90% of Pope High graduates further their education by attending a four-year college or university or a two-year college. Like Kell High School, Alan C. Pope High School was named after an exceptional Cobb County coach and teacher who was known for meeting all his challenges with 110%; gaining All-State, All-Region, and All-County in both basketball and baseball. Aside from sports, Kell offers many organizations for students designed to set the tone for a successful future, such as Future Business Leaders of America, Future Educators of America, Habitat for Humanity, and Men of Distinction. With all the great things Pope has to offer, looks like the students there will be well prepared when it time to join us in the Big World!
