Iconic America is a new series coming to GPB and PBS stations nationwide this spring and summer.  It will highlight some of America’s most iconic symbols, objects and places, using them as a gateway to understanding America’s past and present.

All of us here at GPB thought this would be a great opportunity to celebrate some of Georgia’s icons. It’s a big list!

There are so many representative or venerated people and things in this great state. We will be highlighting some of them in this blog over the next few months. We will also have a map showcasing Georgia’s people, natural wonders, historic places, museums and monuments, and events.

We invite you to explore the topics and learn more about Georgia’s icons on our GPB.org/Icon page. We will have activities to help you learn more and encourage you to visit iconic locations across the state. And if you can’t take a physical trip, that’s okay too; we will have plenty of GPB programs to keep you interested.

Do you have a favorite Georgia icon?  Let us know on Facebook or Instagram

We hope you enjoy this celebration of Georgia through its diverse and wonderful icons!
