Atlanta-based alternative rock band Frigga Five reflects on their journey from basement rehearsals to sold-out shows. With stories of family, grit, and a growing place in the city’s vibrant music scene, they share what it means to build something together from the ground up.

Atlanta’s music scene is buzzing, and Frigga Five is right at the heart of it. On this episode of Peach Jam, host Jeremy Powell sits down with the rising alternative rock band to talk about roots, roadblocks, and rock dreams. Hailing from the Peach State’s capital, Frigga Five delivers a modern twist on ‘90s and early 2000s grunge—a sound that feels both familiar and completely fresh.

The current lineup—Ryan, Alex, Jia, Addison, and Kaleb—came together organically, though not without a few bumps along the way. Addison, the band’s bassist, was a last-minute addition who learned the band’s songs in just a week before stepping onto the stage at the Georgia Theatre.

The group reminisces about earlier days, when filling the bassist role meant enlisting their dads as temporary players. It turns out music runs deep in the family, with some of their first jam sessions happening in home studios with their parents.

That kind of DIY ethos is still at the core of Frigga Five. Before officially headlining any shows, they spent their time opening for other bands and building a grassroots following in Atlanta. Their debut album, Machine Man, marks a new chapter—and their first official headlining show celebrates its release.

But while ambition drives them forward, transportation literally holds them back. Touring is still a dream in the planning stages, with members joking about the struggle of cramming gear into small cars. A van is on the wish list.

Behind the scenes, it’s clear that Kaleb is the band’s planner-in-chief. Though Frigga Five started as his personal project, the group is evolving into a collaborative unit. Their creative process is beginning to reflect that—what began as Caleb’s vision is now becoming a shared one, especially as they look to the future with ideas for new EPs or maybe even another album.

What also shines through is their love for Georgia’s growing rock scene. Kaleb boldly proclaims, “Atlanta’s the new Seattle”—a vision he’s not only voiced but working to make real.

The band members reflect on their formative years playing at a now-closed local record store called His Rock, where they first learned what it meant to be a part of a music community. They credit those small, all-ages venues with shaping their passion and keeping the scene accessible to younger bands.

Now, as they juggle streaming promotion and old-school flyer campaigns, the band is focused on staying authentic while reaching new listeners. Whether it's guerrilla marketing or heartfelt hometown gigs, Frigga Five is forging their own path—one power chord at a time.
