(Event date: Tue 11/08) Tuesday at noon, Tuesdays Music Live—America’s largest luncheon concert series—continues its 29th season with a FREE concert by the Cecilia Ensemble. Based in Augusta, the ensemble has performed their historically informed sacred choral music around the world to wide acclaim. The hour-long concert takes place at Augusta’s St. Paul’s Church located at Reynolds and 7th Streets. (Event Date: Tue 11/08) Diamond Lakes Branch Library, located at 101 Diamond Lakes Way in Hephzibah, offers “Microsoft Publisher for Beginners” Tuesday from 2 to 3pm. The Library staff is set to provide free assistance. This is a great opportunity to learn the basics of this popular desktop publishing application. (Event date: Wed 11/09) The Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History hosts their monthly luncheon. Wednesday at 11:30, panelists from Augusta, Charleston South Carolina and Hephzibah are set to share their skilled quilting techniques and cultural history of the craft. (Event Date: Thu 11/10) Golden Harvest Food Bank in Aiken hosts “Taste of the Harvest” Friday night from 6-8pm. It takes place at the Golden Harvest Aiken Warehouse located at 81 Capital Drive. (Event date: Thu 11/10) It’s time for Lights! Camera! Pops! as Symphony Orchestra Augusta presents “Hooray for Hollywood!” The concert features melodies from cinematic blockbusters including “Gone with the Wind,” “Star Trek,” “Jaws,” and “Harry Potter.” Showtime this Thursday, November 10th, is 7:30pm at the Bell Auditorium located at 712 Telfair Street in downtown Augusta. (Event: Thu 11/1 – Sun 11/13) Theatre AU presents the play, “Smokefall”. Directed by Doug Joiner, the production explores the lives of a family in a lyrical treatise on the fragility of life and love. (Event date: Fri 11/11) The Southern Soul and Song concert series presents the Travelin’ McCourys Friday evening. Performing traditional and progressive bluegrass, band members include sons of bluegrass legend Del McCoury. They’ve performed with the Allman Brothers Band, Phish and Warren Haynes. (Event Date: Sat 11/12) The Junior League of Augusta is hosting a Holiday Market Saturday, starting at noon at the downtown Augusta Convention Center on Reynolds Street. This three-day event includes holiday vendors and an appearance by Santa for photos with those who have been good this year. Children twelve and under get in for free. (Event Date: Sat 11/12) The 37th annual Whiskey Road Race is happening Saturday beginning at 8am at the Odell Weeks Center, on Whiskey Road in Aiken. This event includes ten K, five K, and one-mile races, which pass through the scenic South Boundary Avenue and Aiken’s historic horse district. Proceeds from the races go to Cumbee Center to Assist Abused Persons. More information is available at CumbeeCenter.org
(Event Date 11/15) The Augusta University Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Robb Foster, performs their fall concert Tuesday evening, 7:30, at Maxwell Theatre on the Augusta University Summerville Campus.
