(Event Date: Fri 11/18)   This Friday, the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art, located at 5th and Telfair Street, is hosting the Augusta University Faculty Art Exhibit. The exhibit features creations from the prominent artists and educators of Augusta University’s art department. The opening reception begins at 6 pm. The works are on display until December 9th. The annual poetry and spoken word performance features literary works written and performed by Davidson students. (Event Date: Fri 11/18)   The Lyceum Series at Augusta University presents “The Sons of Serendip” in concert this Friday night at 7:30 at AU’s Maxwell Theatre on The Summerville Campus. (Event date: Fri 11/18)   This Friday,  Symphony Orchestra Augusta presents Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, “Pastoral” at First Baptist of Augusta on Walton Way Extension. (Event Date: Fri – Sun 11/18 -20)   This weekend, a play at The Etherredge Center on the USC Aiken Campus.  “Spring Awakening” is a rock musical based on a German play originally staged in 1891. It tells the story of teens discovering the inner and outer tumult of teenage sexuality. Run dates are this Friday through Sunday. (Event Date: Sat 11/19)   Saturday, the Salvation Army is hosting the Turkey Trot, a series of morning races. The event includes one mile, 5 K, and 10K runs, plus a 10K wheelchair race. (Event date: Sat 11/19)   Saturday evening,  pianist and collaborative artist Michiko Otaki performs an eclectic mix of Bach, Beethoven and Chopin, plus a newer piece composed just for the artist. (Event date: Sun 11/20)   This weekend, you can enjoy popular music of the 50s and 60s at Sunday’s “Music at the Morris” concert. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy a cappella barbershop style harmony performed by Augusta’s Garden City Chorus. The performance is free and begins at 2pm at the Morris Museum of Art located at 10th and Reynolds Streets in downtown Augusta.
