(Event Date: Tue 11/22) The city of Augusta presents a “Senior Adult Thanksgiving Luncheon” tomorrow from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM. Senior Adults ages 55 and over are welcome. (Event Date: Tue 11/22) The “Tuesday's Music Live” concert series presents pianist Martin Soderberg. Widely respected, Soderberg has performed extensively in Spain, Sweden, Slovakia, Germany, England Central and South America, China and the USA. (Event Date: Tue 11/22) The AU Department of Music presents the “Augusta University Wind Ensemble” tonight at 7:30. The concert takes place at AU’s Maxwell Theatre on The Summerville Campus. This is a great opportunity to watch these hard-working students perform with flutes, trumpets, and other wind instruments. Additional information is available at Calendar.Augusta.Edu.
(Event Date: Thu 11/24) On Thursday, One Table is organizing a community-wide Thanksgiving Feast beginning at 11 AM. The feast takes place in downtown Aiken in The Alley. Participants are encouraged to bring a dish to share, or just show up with their appetites. Leftovers will be donated to area missions. More information is available at onetable.info.
(Event date: Thu 11/24) It’s time for the traditional “Blessing of the Hounds” at Aiken’s Hitchcock Woods. The beloved Thanksgiving Day tradition takes place at 11am, immediately preceding Aiken Hounds’ formal Opening Meet, and is free and open to the public. Attendees should allow 30 minutes to walk from Laurens Street to Memorial Gate as no motorized vehicles are permitted in the Woods for this event. More info at Hitchcockwoods.org
(Event Date: Fri 11/25) The Jessye Norman School is hosting an opening reception for a new exhibit. “Troy Campbell: Rhythms”is a music-inspired visual arts exhibit on display through the end of December. The opening reception is Friday afternoon from 1:00-3:00pm in the Ann & Ellis Gallery at Jessye Norman School of the Arts, 322 Eighth Street. (Event Date Fri-Sun 11/25-27) This weekend, a Thanksgiving tradition continues at The Imperial Theatre. The Colton Ballet invites you to “The Nutcracker”, featuring the same magic and grandeur that Ron Colton brought to Augusta in 1971. Performances are scheduled Friday through Sunday. (Event Date: Sat 11/26) Saturday, The Living History Park, on West Spring Grove Avenue, in North Augusta, invites you to Christmas in the Back Country. During this event, you can experience what Christmas was like during the 18th century, complete with Santa, dressed in traditional Victorian clothing. (Event date: Sat 11/26) Josef Patchen presents an Evening of Jazz Noir at Saturday’s “Jazz & Wine Soiree” in downtown Augusta. The event begins at 7:30 at the Jessye Norman School of the Arts located at 739 Green Street and features classic jazz, various wines and an open jam session.
