(Event date: Thu 02/23) The Augusta University Music Department presents the annual AU Orchestra and Wind Ensemble concert Thursday evening at 7:30 at the Maxwell Theatre on the AU’s Summerville campus. The orchestra's repertoire includes composers as diverse as Bach, Andre Previn and John Williams. (Event date: Fri 02/24) Coming to Augusta University’s Maxwell Theatre this Friday, it’s award-winning chamber musicians the Delphi Trio featuring violin, cello and piano. The group, praised for “…spot-on ensemble playing and a beautifully blended sound…” is known for its intensity and communicative power. This performance—presented by the Harry Jacobs Chamber Music Society, begins at 7:30 on Augusta University’s Summerville Campus. (Event Date: Fri & Sat 02/24-25) The Augusta University Half Marathon is this Sunday, and the festivities include an Expo on Friday from 3 til 7, and Saturday 11 til 4 at Julian Smith Casino. Vendors at the expo cover a wide array of health and fitness categories. And, expert guest speakers are scheduled throughout the day on Saturday. Admission is free. (Event Dates: Fri-Sun 02/24-26) The Augusta Players present the hilarious musical, “9 to 5” this Friday through Sunday at The Imperial Theatre on Broad Street in downtown Augusta. With music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, it’s the tale of three female co-workers concocting a plan to get even with their evil boss and take control of the company. (Event date: Sat 02/25) This Saturday, Symphony Orchestra Augusta presents an evening celebrating the music of one of America’s greatest composers. It’s “All Gershwin: Rhapsody in Blue” with SOA performing selections from Porgy & Bess and An American in Paris, plus Cuban Overture and Rhapsody in Blue at Augusta’s First Baptist Church. (Event date: Sat 02/25) This Saturday at 2pm, Dr. Adam King of the South Carolina Institute of Archaeology & Anthropology is giving a talk about archaeology, exploring the exciting history of the Mississippian civilization. (Event date: Sat 02/25) Prior to the Augusta University Half-Marathon, the Pre-Race Pasta Dinner Fundraiser takes place Saturday from 6-8pm at the Julian Smith Casino on Broad Street. (Event Date: Thru Sun 2/26) The Aiken Women’s Heart Board presents their winter benefit shows at The Etherredge Center on the University of South Carolina Aiken campus today thru Sunday. This year, the production is entitled, “That’s Amore!” The show schedule includes evening performances each day with matinées on Saturday and Sunday.
