(Event Date: Mon 4/17) Los Amigos Hispanos present Dia del Idioma, a fun evening of spelling, singing, dance and culture--all en español. It takes place from 5 ‘til 7pm Monday in the ballroom of The Jaguar Student Activity Center on Augusta University’s Summerville Campus and is free and open to the public. (Event Date: Tue 04/18) Tuesday evening at 7:30, The Augusta University Jazz Ensemble presents their spring concert. It takes place in Maxwell Theatre on AU’s Summerville Campus, 2500 Walton Way. (Event date: Thu 04/20) Augusta’s Imperial Theatre presents “Deconstructing the Beatles”—the documentary film series by composer, producer and Beatles aficionado Scott Freiman. The series continues this Thursday with a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the Beatles’ psychedelic 1967 album, “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.” Showtime, 7:30pm. The hunt takes place Friday from 4:00 to 5:20pm at the Augusta-Richmond County Public Library on Telfair Street. (Event Date: Fri 04/21 & 04/28) The Enopion Theatre Company presents a play, The Life and Times of Petunia Butterby about the experiences of an English orphan as she discovers what she believes in. (Event Date: Sat 04/22) The “Dreams, Imagination and Gift Development” or “DIG” Program hosts their 2nd annual DIG STEM festival on Saturday from 10 ‘til 5. (Event date: Thu 04/27) Symphony Orchestra Augusta presents the Grammy-winning Steep Canyon Rangers in concert at the Bell Auditorium on Thursday, April 27th. The group has recorded with Steve Martin, Edie Brickell, Paul McCartney, and The Dixie Chicks. (Event date: Tue 04/28) Coming to Augusta University’s Maxwell Theatre April 28th, it’s the Akropolis Reed Quintet. The group combines sax, clarinet, oboe and bassoon to perform unique compositions and arrangements. The concert takes place from 7:30 to 9:30 and is part of the Harry Jacobs Chamber Music Series. (Event Date: Sat 05/06) GPB-Augusta, Garden City Jazz, The Greater Augusta Arts Council, and AU’s Music Department present the spring Straight A Jazz concert. It takes place beginning at 6pm on AU’s Summervillle Campus in at the Barnard Amphitheatre.
