(Event Date: Tue & Wed 05/16-17) The Augusta Junior Players are conducting auditions for their upcoming production of “Curtains”, a musical comedy whodunit. Auditions are today and tomorrow at 7pm at The Jessye Norman School, 739 Green Street in Downtown Augusta. (Event Dates: Thu- Sat 05/18) The Ft. Gordon Dinner Theatre continues their run of “Crimes of the Heart” this weekend with performances Thursday through Sunday. It’s the story of three sisters, returning to a small Mississippi town, awaiting news of the family patriarch’s last hours, while dealing with their own grave yet hilarious troubles. (Event date: Fri 05/19) This Friday, it’s time for the Columbia County’s Choral Society’s 20th Anniversary Gala Concert at First Baptist Church of Evans located at 515 N. Belair Road. The event begins at 7:30pm and features the music of internationally known Georgia composer, Daniel Elder, plus a composition commissioned in memory of Choral Society founding director, Jack Kearns. (Event dates: Sat 05/20) Coming to Evans this Saturday, it’s the world famous Glenn Miller Orchestra—the most sought after big band in the world today for both concert and dance engagements. The Orchestra continues the Glenn Miller legend and continues the unique sound first heard over six decades ago. Showtime at the Hardin Performing Arts Center is 7:30pm; doors open at 6:30. (Event date: Mon 05/22) The Hopelands Summer Concert Series continues this coming Monday, May 22nd, with a performance by the Aiken Concert Band beginning at 7pm. The venue is the beautiful Hopelands Gardens located in Aiken at 135 Dupree Place and admission is free. Lawn chairs and blankets are recommended for seating, and picnic baskets are permitted.
