Is it April or is it August? It's easy to confuse the two as 80 degree temperatures dominate the first half of the week. In fact, Atlanta set a record high temperature of 87 degrees on Tuesday, April 3rd. Luckily, a slight cooling trend will occur just in time for the holiday weekend.

Severe weather also impacted the northeastern mountains and the southwestern counties of the state. Quarter-sized hail fell in Thomasville, Georgia, and three-quarter of an inch sized hail was reported in northeast Toccoa on Tuesday. (Of course, this pales in comparison to the numerous tornadoes spotted by our neighbors to the west in Dallas-Forth Worth, Texas.) Supercells with imbedded tornadoes moving towards the northeast in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. One supercell was on a direct course for the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport; both DFWIA and Dallas Love Field airport were evacuated.

Hail and heavy rain fell in the northeast mountain area of Georgia.

Hail and heavy rain were also reported in southwest Georgia.

Texas' scary weather will become our thunderstorms later this week, with the greatest chance of rain occurring on Thursday afternoon. Some hail, heavy rain, and damaging winds are possible with these storms, though tornadoes are not in the forecast at this time. Temperatures will be in the upper 70's and 80's through Thursday, then dip to the upper 60's and 70's through Sunday.
