Welcome to Winter Weather Awareness Week! The National Weather Service and I have partnered together to bring to you a series of videos to help you prepare for the winter season here in Georgia.

Today is Day 2 of Winter Weather Awareness Week, which is a great time to talk about the different winter weather alerts that the National Weather Service may issue for the state of Georgia. Joining me today is Steve Nelson, who is the Science Operations Officer for the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.

Here, Steve describes the different types of winter weather alerts that affect the state throughout the winter season.

Steve also showed me a forecasting workstation, and he explained the different parameters that meteorologists look for when predicting winter weather.

You can find information about the latest winter weather watches and warnings at www.weather.gov and also at www.gpb.org. In addition, the National Weather Service in Peachtree City is a great source for information about Winter Weather in Georgia, including climatology information and historical events.

I hope you have a wonderful and safe winter! Happy storm spotting!
