Costco has voluntarily recalled its Townsend Farms Organic Antioxidant Blend Frozen Berry Mix, due to concerns about Hepatitis A contamination. The berry mix in question contains berries harvested in the United States, Argentina, Chile, and Turkey. The likely culprit is pomegranate seeds from Turkey—the CDC found this particular strain of Hepatitis A is often found in the Middle East.

Hepatitis A is a virus that causes liver inflammation. Hepatitis symptoms include fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dark urine, bowel movements, joint pain, and yellowing of the skin or eyes -- jaundice.

So far, this frozen berry mix has been linked to hep a infections in 30 Americans. More cases will likely be reported over the next two to six weeks; that's how long it takes for signs and symptoms of infection to appear. Meanwhile, the person is still contagious and can spread the disease.

The CDC says if you have this product, throw it out. If you have consumed this product, talk to your doctor about Hep A testing.
