The event will feature highlights from Preserving Democracy: Pursuing a More Perfect Union and a panel discussion with Marcia Chatelain (Pulitzer Prize-winning historian), Jelani Cobb (writer, author and educator), and Alexis Coe (presidential historian and New York Times best-selling author) and other special guests, moderated by Margaret Hoover (host of PBS’ Firing Line with Margaret Hoover). The film excerpts and panel discussion will be open captioned.
Climate change is increasingly recognized to pose a variety of threats to human health, including mental health and well-being. Join GPB, Compassionate Atlanta and Georgia Interfaith Power & Light for an interactive dialogue including actionable steps that we can take as individuals to find hope as we care for the planet.
Although Muhammad Ali is universally revered as he Greatest of All Time (or G.O.A.T.) for his exploits in the boxing ring, he also became a champion of humanity through his commitment to service outside the ring. Through a partnership led by PBS Books, USA TODAY and the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, this program will highlight the dedication to courage, generosity, kindness and compassion embodied by Muhammad Ali in recognition of his 80th birthday. Additional partners include the Louisville Courier Journal, Metro Louisville United Way, the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) and Kentucky Educational Television (KET).
