Foundations Domain

The purpose of the Foundations domain is for students to build a foundation for achieving dynamic literacy practices to aid reading comprehension.

This bundle of resources is grounded in the Foundations video panel discussions found below and is designed to serve two key audiences: K-12 classroom teachers and the leaders of district professional learning. The panel discussions themselves specifically target classroom teachers, and district leaders may find them useful when they design professional learning experiences. In addition to the videos, you will find a Foundations At-a-Glance document under the Support Materials tab for the full panel discussion video. This resource provides a brief overview of the domain, progression of the big ideas, and links to related resources. This panel video about the Foundations Domain was recorded by Georgia teachers for Georgia teachers to help explain the new standards. The teachers in the video worked on statewide committees to develop the new standards and provide insights as to why certain decisions were made and how teachers can transition to using the new standards during instruction.
