Grade Level: K-8
Utilizing PBS LearningMedia Georgia Public Broadcasting provides educators with access to free educational platforms that host active and engaging programs, lessons, and media to get kids moving and considering their health and wellness. Participants will become familiar with our partner platforms and how to easily locate and implement activities that boost students’ physical activity as well as awareness about their health.

Learning Off the Charts: Validating and Supporting the Unique Needs of Gifted Children

Being gifted often indicates more about a child than their aptitude for academic achievement. Many gifted children exhibit both an intellectual and emotional intensity that manifests as an unrealistic drive for perfectionism and a subsequently high level of anxiety. How can we as educators be sensitive to these dual cognitive and well-being needs of our students and help them modulate their corresponding capacities and challenges? Better Health Leads to a Life Time of Wealth With GPB Education and PBS LearningMedia
Grade Level: K-12
The benefits of learning how to manage health can have big pay offs for young people! In this session participants will be introduced to digital resources from GPB - Education and PBS Learning Media that can easily be used in the classroom and that promote a life-long healthy life style. GPB – Education and PBS Learning Media provides digital resources for PreK – 12 educators at no-cost for teachers or school districts. Many of the resources have teacher support materials and activities included. This interactive session is geared toward physical education and health educators. We will focus on digital resources that engage physical activity and get students moving, assist with stress management through social-emotional learning, and inform healthy eating habits and nutrition education.

Healthy Minds: Mental Health and Mindfulness

Educators must be the thinkers and doers of all things. Educators are called upon to provide instruction and support to students in the classroom. Providing educators with resources that are at their fingertips is essential. These free Mental Health and Mindfulness digital resources are crafted to support all students. Participants in this session will explore strategies designed to promote healthy minds. Attending this session will allow participants to leave with a wealth of strategies and resources to help students with self-care.

Participants will leave with no-cost, grab-and grow resources that empower us to invest in our own well-being while simultaneously growing the social-emotional currency of our students.

Participants will discuss how our stories can help us build empathy and community, invite courageous conversations in our schools and classrooms, and inspire our students to create their own unique American portraits.
