The Georgia Department of Behavior Health and Developmental Disabilities, in collaboration with GPB, presents the screening and discussion of the documentary film Journey of Hope. Journey of Hope offers a glimpse into the hard work and dedication required from individuals and the wider system to ensure everyone has the skills, tools, and essentials needed to live a full and thriving life. This event will also shine a light on the amazing organizations working tirelessly every day to support you and others who need them most.
About the film:
Journey of Hope delves into the multifaceted world of mental health, featuring candid narratives from individuals with lived experiences. Produced by the Emmy Award-winning team behind "Crisis of Substance," this film is divided into four chapters that explore the nuances of mental health treatment, the pervasive stigma surrounding mental illness, the fight for diagnosis and the profound impact on caregivers. Through personal stories and expert interviews, Journey of Hope illuminates the challenges and triumphs of those navigating mental health issues, fostering understanding and empathy in its audience. Each chapter builds a comprehensive picture of the journey towards hope and healing, offering valuable perspectives and resources for those affected by mental health conditions.
