Woodruff Donors Frustrated By Investigation
Primary Content
Some supporters of the Woodruff Arts Center are questioning why it has taken so long to investigate what arts center officials have called the embezzlement of more than $1 million.
Officials with the Atlanta arts center said in November that a former employee embezzled more than $1.4 million.
Authorities said the employee stole the money by submitting fraudulent invoices and funning money through a fake company.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that no one has been arrested, leaving Woodruff supporters and observers frustrated.
Woodruff Arts Center president and CEO Virginia A. Hepner said all of the center's findings from an internal investigation have been turned over to the U.S. Attorney's Office. Hepner said that donors can be assured that their contributions are not at risk.
