Ga. Senate's Turn On Lobbying Limits
Primary Content
Lawmakers in the Georgia Senate are expected to publicly release their version of proposed limits on lobbyist expenditures.
The Senate Rules Committee planned to meet Thursday to discuss its proposed legislation.
Committee Chairman Jeff Mullis said the plan will include a $100 cap on expenditures by lawmakers, similar to an internal Senate rule adopted earlier this year.
The original plan by House Speaker David Ralston would generally prohibit individual lobbyist spending on state lawmakers, though it leaves exceptions. Lobbyists could still wine and dine lawmaker committees, caucuses and delegations and pay for lawmaker travel.
Mullis has said he expects a Senate floor vote on the plan Friday.
