Atlanta To Host 2018 NCAA Football Championship
Primary Content
Atlanta’s new Mercedes-Benz stadium–the future home of the Falcons—is set to host the 2018 NCAA College Football Playoff.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Atlanta beat out Miami, Houston, and Santa Clara, California to host the game. It’s the second major event scheduled for the stadium, which opens in March 2017. Last year, the NCAA chose the stadium to host the 2020 Final Four in men’s college basketball.
The stadium now enters the hunt for the Superbowl in 2019 or 2020. Bids for the Superbowl are due this month, with a decision coming in May.
