UPDATE:

The Supreme Court of Georgia denied Bishop's request for a stay of execution Thursday afternoon.

The State Board of Pardons and Paroles has denied death row inmate Joshua Bishop's plea for clemency.

The 41-year-old's execution is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson.

The parole board announced their decision Thursday morning after a clemency hearing Wednesday.

Joshua Bishop was convicted of murder and armed robbery in the 1994 beating death of Leverett Morrison in Milledgeville. At the time, Bishop was 19.

A jury sentenced Bishop to die in 1996. Another man involved with the murder, Mark Braxley, pleaded guilty and is currently serving life without parole.

An appeal filed by Bishop's legal team Tuesday is still awaiting a decision before the Georgia Supreme Court. If put to death, Bishop would be the third person executed in the state in 2016.

Georgia executed 45-year-old Travis Hittson on Feb. 17 and 72-year-old Brandon Jones on Feb. 3.  At the time, Jones was the state's oldest death row inmate.

Another inmate, 48-year-old Kenneth Fults, is scheduled to die April 12.
