Atlanta Zine Scene: An Alternative To Mainstream Media
Primary Content
Most people think about music when they hear the word "punk." But punk is also about a do-it-yourself lifestyle. So punks in the '80s and '90s often made their own clothes, repaired their own bikes, and made their own magazines. Zines are self-published magazines, often handmade, and they're still around today, both in print and online formats. There will be plenty on display this weekend as the fourth annual Atlanta Zine Fest kicks off. This year's theme is "Digital DIY."
We speak with Atlanta Zine Fest Founder and Mumur Media Executive Director Amanda Mills about zines in the digital age and the zine community in Atlanta.
