The Breakroom gang joins host Celeste Headlee to weigh in on the week's news. The panel includes Sam Burnham (Curator of the blog “All the Biscuits in Georgia”), Amy Condon (an editor for Savannah Magazine), Ken Edelstein (environmental blogger), and Soumaya Khalifa (Executive Director, Islamic Speakers Bureau of Atlanta).

BREAKROOM TOPICS:

1) We’ve talked a lot on the show about the debate over confederate monuments in the South. The National Cathedral in Washington, DC says it’s doing away with the Confederate Battle Flags on its stained glass windows. The windows memorialize Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson. But there are other reminders tied to the Confederacy that will remain on the windows. The National Cathedral says it’ll revisit those images later, but for now wants to use these windows as a starting point for a discussion about race and the history of slavery. What do you think? Good decision?

2) There are dating sites for just about everybody from farmers, to Christians, to Geeks. Well, there is now a dating site for supporters of Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee. A dating site dedicated to Trump supporters doesn’t sound that weird when you think about it. According to Pew Research, one in five Americans would be unhappy if someone from another political party joined their family.  Would you date someone of the opposite party?

3) To say Donald Trump has had a lukewarm relationship with the media during this election would be an understatement. He recently banned the Washington Post from covering his campaign. He previously barred Politico, BuzzFeed News, The Huffington Post and others. Some people say this is an attack on freedom of the press. Do you agree or is it simply his right to bar outlets that he thinks are hostile?

4) Research from the University of California shows teens are more likely to do dangerous things if pictures of those things have been “liked” on social media. Some experts argue maybe we need to restrict social media use, as we do with things like driving, voting, smoking and drinking alcohol. What do you think?

5) Garrison Keillor, the host of public radio’s "A Prairie Home Companion," recently weighed in on a very contentious issue in Atlanta. That’s the Braves move to Cobb County. Keillor performed his show in Atlanta for the last time, and in typical "Prairie Home" fashion, he included a bit which criticized the Braves’ decision to leave Turner Field. Deadspin reports Cobb County will raise taxes to pay for public parks as the $400 million stadium nears completion. How are you feeling about the Braves’ move?

6) During a wrestling match this month in Catoosa County, Georgia, a woman in the audience brought a gun to the fight and pointed it at one of the fighters. According to the Times Free Press, Patricia Anne Crowe was charged with aggravated assault and reckless conduct. Should we add wrestling matches to the list of places where people shouldn't be allowed to carry a gun?
