Local harpist Betsy Fitzgerald and the Huffington Post's film critic Jackie K. Cooper have a list of fun ideas.

Russian to the Finnish
The Macon Symphony kicks off its 40th season with brand new Music Director Jerry Steichen in a spectacular concert featuring pianist Spencer Myer performing Tchaikovsky’s Concerto No. 1. The Program also features the stirringly beautiful, but little known, Overture on Three Russian Folk Songs by Balakirev and the great Sibelius Symphony No. 2. I highly recommend you arrive early in time to enjoy the pre-concert conductor chat at 6:30 pm, where you can learn more about this exciting program while in an intimate setting with the new conductor.

Performers are:
JUSTIN CUTWAY
Justin Cutway, who was born in western Pennsylvania but now lives in Macon, GA, writes and plays subtle songs that provide lush illustrations of the world with a sense of wonder and humor. His songs bypass the common singer/songwriter habit of naked introspection with lyrics full of imagery taken from nature and sentiments borrowed from simpler times sung with honesty and power. The music Cutway adds to these lyrics can range from a few notes gently plucked on nylon strings with sparse arrangements of found sounds to folky acoustic strums to full on guitar rock explosions powered by multiple riffs and thunderous rhythms.
AARON IRONS
Aaron Irons was born in the green mountains of West Virginia; but calls Macon, Georgia his home. He was a founding member of the influential rock n’ roll band, The Liabilities. He enjoys the Westerns of John Wayne, the “Dead” films of Romero, and the history of professional wrestling in the United States and Japan. He is also the host of Honky Tonk Hell on WNEX The Creek FM, a show that explores lost highways and hops the mystery train as it rolls out of the Golden Age of old time radio and into a revival for the Modern Era.
