A full hour of tricks and treats and from the On Second Thought crew.

Georgia native Karin Slaughter has written several international bestsellers and they are not for the faint of heart. These are complicated, tough, and realistic thrillers. Her latest is “The Good Daughter.”  It’s about a terrifying event that rips apart a family and the small town where they live. We spoke with Karin Slaughter about revealing the dark side of Georgia’s small town life.

We’re in Halloween mode with some uncanny yarns from around the state. First, we visited Stone Mountain with David Hirt, a professional storyteller. Then, UGA professor Jeffrey Kilpatrick shared a cult classic from his new collection of scary stories set in Athens. And we took a trip to the old undertaker’s elevator in a basement of Rome, Georgia, and visit some spectral friends at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre.

If you want to track down a ghost hunter in Georgia, we suggest you visit Savannah. It is a city built on the dead, after all. Ryan Dunn is the lead investigator for the Savannah Ghost Research Society. They conduct free paranormal investigations in Savannah and around the world. We spoke to him, and then we learned about why hauntings can be good for business and get one more spooky story from Savannah’s Weed House Museum.
