This is National Autism Awareness month. Research from the A.J. Drexel Autism Institute shows young adults with autism have higher rates of complete social isolation than people with other disabilities. One place to prevent that isolation is on the baseball field. GPB’s Leah Fleming spoke with the founder of a Georgia athletic program that’s designed to help teens and adults with autism and special needs.
Asperger’s Syndrome is a neuro-biological disorder on the higher-functioning end of the autism spectrum.
