-It's time for a favorite local kickoff to the summer: the Tybee Island Beach Bum Parade. Be sure to wear a bathing suit and bring your super-soaker because the heart of the celebration is an island-wide water fight. Friday, 6:30-8 p.m.; free.
-Celebrate local daughter Flannery O'Connor with an exhibit of art inspired by the acclaimed author - and maybe take home a piece of your own. The "Southern Discomfort" show at Location Gallery will include a silent auction to benefit the Flannery O'Connor Childhood Home and the artists. Friday, 5-8 p.m.; free admission.
-Honor Armed Forces Day with the Nine Line Run for the Wounded 5K and 10K in Daffin Park. Proceeds will go toward Nine Line's current initiative: a "Veterans Village" transitional community for homeless vets in Savannah. Saturday, 6 p.m.; $40 5K or $45 10K.
-Enjoy an afternoon of great music at the Jewish Educational Alliance's annual Jack Malitz and Miriam Slotin Levy Memorial Concert. The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra will perform, with dessert to follow. Sunday, 2 p.m.; free.
