Coastal Ga. Weekend: Savannah And Coastal Events July 19-22
Primary Content
There's no shortage of fun in Savannah this weekend as the end of July approaches. Do Savannah Editor Heather Henley has some suggestions.Heather Henley talks weekend events.
Heather's picks:
- Find art for a cause at the Convention Center's Local Art Showcase and Vendor Pop-Up Shop. The art on offer includes work by local artists as well as pieces by kids from the Carts with HeART program, made by families and patients using the art carts at Ronald McDonald House. Sale of those works benefits the program. The showcase is 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, while the art is on display through Dec. 7.
- See some of Savannah's most talented kids at Find Your Song, the end-of-summer-camp concert by the Savannah Children's Choir at the Lucas Theatre. More than 80 campers will sing in several languages, including two songs they wrote themselves during camp at 7 p.m. Friday; $10.
- Wilkommen, bienvenue, welcome to the Kit Kat Club, also known as Savannah Stage Company's production of Cabaret. They'll perform the classic musical at their Pop Up Playhouse on Lathrop Ave. with local favorites Lexi Balaoing as Sally Bowles and Wesley Pridgen as the Emcee and choreography by Wendy Penatello Denney of Savannah Suite Tease fame. Performances are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday; $15. Runs this weekend and next.
- It's an all-day birthday party as Service Brewing celebrates four years in Savannah. There will be beer (naturally) plus Big Bon Pizza and music from Cusses, Hypnotics and DJ Jose Ray from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday; free, 21 and over.
- Enjoy a throwback evening when Christian rockers Newsboys play the Johnny Mercer Theatre. Current and past members of the hit group are joining forces for the Newsboys United Tour, promising to play all their biggest hits, starting at 6 p.m. Saturday; $25 general admission with group discounts.
