It's a weekend of festivals and art in Savannah. Claire Sandow of the Tourism Leadership Council has some tips.Claire Sandow discusses weekend events.

Claire's picks:

  • Eat and drink your fill at the Gourmet Seafood and Spirits Festival, happening all weekend at the Westin. Highlights include the Coastal Chef's Table on Thursday; Saturday's Aquacurean Challenge, a competition among the best local bars and restaurants and a Jazz Brunch by the river Sunday. Full schedule and tickets here.
  • Find your next piece of art at the Savannah Art Association's Summer Soiree. The gallery on Chippewa Square will stay open late to give you a chance to peruse their selection of work from local artists from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
  • Enjoy a bit of opera as the Savannah Voice Festival continues. Catch the prescient 1947 opera The Telephone, about a woman who gets a bit too caught up in her phone before smartphones even existed, at the Davenport House Kennedy Pharmacy at 7 p.m. Friday; $65. Then the up-and-coming young singers of Camp VOICE bring their showcase Stories of Old and New to the Yamacraw Center for the Performing Arts at 2 p.m. Saturday; $22-30. Full festival schedule here.
