Labor Day weekend brings plenty of fun to the Savannah area. Do Savannah's Heather Henley has some tips.Heather Henley talks weekend events.

Heather's picks:

  • It's a four-day celebration as Bull Street Taco marks one year in business. The fun includes a screening of the movie Chef on Thursday, ice cream tacos by Ben & Jerry's Friday, a block party on Saturday and a hot pepper eating contest on Sunday.
  • Party for a cause at the Indian Street Block Party. Service Brewing and Ghost Coast Distillery are teaming up to raise money for the Humane Society's new HVAC units. Enjoy specialty cocktails, a new Service beer, Big Bon pizza and music from City Hotel and DJ Jose Ray from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday.
  • Don't miss your chance to see photographs by Jack Leigh, best known for snapping the cover image for "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil." The exhibit "The Light, The Heat: Summer in the South" celebrates Leigh's use of light to capture the sultry heat of a Lowcountry summer, through Sept. 5 at Laney Contemporary.
  • It's time to start planning your fall calendar, as lots of events are coming up. Some favorites like the Jazz Festival and Picnic in the Park are free; others, like the Food and Wine Festival and Film Festival, usually sell out. Check back Friday for Do Savannah's preview.
