Reading as children and adults shape our sense of self and the world around us. GPB is exploring the country's 100 most-loved novels with the series "The Great American Read."

 

We spoke to GPB hosts Bill Nigut and Emily Jones about their favorite books ahead of the winning selection's reveal on Oct. 23.

 "On Second Thought" host Virginia Prescott speaking with Bill Nigut and Emily Jones.

Nigut shared his favorite lines from "The Great Gatsby" while Jones spoke on her love of the Harry Potter novels. They both debated the placement of "Fifty Shades of Grey" on the list and provided potential additions to future lists of great American reads.

 

A live finale party takes place Tuesday, Oct. 23, at the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Macon.
